European Sovereign Agentic Commerce Manifesto

Caserta, May 2026

1. The moment

By 2027, according to Gartner, 30% of product searches will happen through conversational AI agents. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot will no longer be ancillary tools — they will become the primary interface of digital commerce.

For every European brand, this changes everything. It's no longer just about being indexed in search engines or appearing in ads. It's about being present in the conversations your customers have with an AI agent when they want to buy.

Those not part of these conversations will be invisible. And the platforms that today dominate this space are almost all US-based.

2. The risk

Relying on ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot to sell European products means accepting three concrete risks:

Data sovereignty. Conversational messages between your customers and the AI travel through US servers. With the Data Privacy Framework under EDPB scrutiny and a real Schrems III risk, it's a GDPR bet at 4% of global turnover.

AI Act compliance. From August 2, 2026, European obligations apply: Art. 50 (chatbot transparency), Art. 26 (deployer duties), Art. 12 (audit logging). US platforms offer no native mechanisms for these compliances. Fines up to €35M or 7% of global turnover.

Tech lock-in and brand erosion. When your customers chat with OpenAI, they don't chat with your brand. No brand experience, no loyalty, no tone-of-voice control, no first-party data. You become a supplier in an ecosystem you don't control.

3. The sovereign vision

Europe needs its own infrastructure for AI commerce. Not as a protectionist gesture, but as a precondition for European brands to:

This infrastructure must be federated, not centralised. Each brand must be able to have its own AI agent, on its own homeserver, with its own configuration. Not a shared SaaS where every brand talks to the same model and all data flows through a single supplier.

It must be open, based on standard protocols (Matrix, A2A) that anyone can implement. No proprietary APIs, no vendor lock-in.

It must be sovereign, EU-hosted, with European payments (Fabrick, Sella group, for native PSD2), with European open source LLM models as default.

4. esedrIA

esedrIA is the first European platform implementing this vision.

Each brand receives its own conversational AI agent, trained on its catalogue, on its tone of voice, with its guardrails. The agent lives in a dedicated Matrix homeserver. Customer data never leaves European infrastructure. Payments are PSD2-compliant via Fabrick (Sella group). AI Act + GDPR compliance is integrated at every layer of the stack.

It's not a generic assistant reskinned with a colour. It's sovereign infrastructure: each brand owns its agent the way it owns its website.

esedrIA runs on European technical infrastructure: OVHcloud for sovereign cloud hosting, Fabrick (Sella group) for PSD2 payments, European open source LLM models aligned with the AI Act. We also rely on specialised legal counsel on AI Act and IP (Bird & Bird) and financial advisors (Kore77). Technical infrastructure and professional support entirely European.

esedrIA is a spin-off of Binarycode S.r.l.s., AI-first software house based in Caserta, Italy, listed in the Special Section of the Companies Register for Innovative Startups since May 7, 2026.

5. Call

We're selecting 20 pilot brands for the closed beta in summer 2026. We're looking for mid-market European brands (fashion, beauty, F&B, design, tech) that want to be part of building this infrastructure — not just customers, but design partners with a direct voice on the roadmap.

We're looking for digital agencies that want to offer their clients a credible European alternative to Shopify Magic, Klaviyo AI, OpenAI Apps.

We're looking for investors who believe commerce should not be the monopoly of three or four extra-EU Big Tech players.

We're looking for jurists, advisors, researchers who want to contribute to the discussion on sovereign agentic commerce as a strategic component of European digital sovereignty.

If you recognise yourself in any of these profiles, become part of esedrIA.
